The banks of the Arlanzón

Burgos can boast of having a large number of gardens and walks around an indisputable and omnipresent protagonist in the urban geography: the Arlanzón River, the differentiating axis of the town, whose banks have been recovered for the stroller's entertainment. The custom of strolling, which is part of the cultural heritage of the people of Burgos, is one of the best legacies bequeathed to us by the metropolitan bourgeoisie. 💡Curiosities The section of the Arlanzón River as it passes through Burgos coincides with the middle course of its course. A stable and clean flow, regulated by the reservoirs at its headwaters, and well-preserved riverbanks, have favored the development of an enviable fluvial ecosystem. Unparalleled in Europe, more than 250 species of vertebrate flora and fauna have been recorded in the urban Arlanzón, between the Bulevar bridge at Capiscol and the Rebolledas bridge. Among the latter, the presence of otters and the moscone bird stand out.
