Main Square

The Plaza Mayor of Burgos has an irregular floor plan that makes it unique in its kind. Heir to an area of medieval open-air markets, attempts to give it an appearance more in keeping with its importance as a hub of the city have always failed. Presided over by the neoclassical Town Hall, built on an old wall gate, surrounded by porticoed buildings and with a statue of King Carlos III as its main decorative element, it now boasts a functional and modern design. 💡Curiosities On the way to the Plaza de Santo Domingo, one must look out onto the long, narrow streets of Almirante Bonifaz and La Moneda. Both are full of elegant houses built in the nineteenth century adorned with the characteristic glass galleries of Burgos roots.
