The Paseo del Espolón is the quintessential Burgos promenade. It has its origin in the second half of the 18th century and has a variety of plant species. Statues of Kings from the Royal Palace of Madrid are installed on the Paseo. There are numerous buildings of interest that we can find along the promenade such as the Arco de Santa María, the Town Hall, the Main Theater or the Provincial Council. El Espolón was born from the construction of the Town Hall and after the entire front of the wall between the Santa María and San Pablo bridges was demolished. In 1791 work began on the project of the architect González de Lara. Especially noteworthy are the intertwined branches of oriental plane trees. 🗺 How to get there?
