On the first floor of the Arco de Santa María is the Pharmacy Museum, with pharmaceutical objects from the 16th to 19th centuries, mostly from the famous apothecary's shop of the now disappeared Hospital de San Juan. Of particular note is the beautiful collection of jars made in Talavera de la Reina in 1558, with the coat of arms of San Juan Evangelista in blue on a white background, and a 16th century mortar, commissioned by Fray Tomás de Paredes. There are also blue or transparent glass containers from the late 19th or early 20th century, and some typical laboratory utensils, such as the large copper pots and stills. 💡Curiosities In other times it was the seat of the Town Hall and the Provincial Museum. Today it is a space open to the public where, in addition to temporary exhibitions, you can visit the Poridad (or secret) room. In this room objects related to the Cid are exhibited as curious as one of his bones, under a Mudejar style coffered ceiling. From here you can access one of its towers to enjoy the beautiful view of the Paseo del Espolón and the Arlanzón river. 🗺 How to get there? It is located 3 minutes walk from the Burgos Town Hall. To access by car, you will find a car park 2 minutes away, located in Plaza Vega. Also located 4 minutes walk from Burgos bus station. 📍Surrounding area In its surroundings you can also find the Cathedral, the Consulate of the Sea and La Glera.
